The right diet during the menopause

… and why supplementing with AKG can have a positive effect.

During the menopause, a woman’s hormones are usually more than just upside down. But while some people go from doctor to doctor and still can’t find a sustainable solution to their problems, others are already one step ahead: with the right diet and the molecule alpha-ketoglutarateas a dietary supplement, the menopause can be a more relaxed time.

As a woman going through the menopause, whenever you find out about the right diet for you, you will receive different and sometimes even contradictory information. For this reason, it is not so easy to choose a path that is also good for you.

But first, let’s take a look at the background to the menopause and what exactly changes in the utilization of food in a woman’s body during the menopause. Unfortunately, the hormonal fluctuations during the menopause mean that the food we eat can no longer be utilized as well and as quickly as before. The reason for this is a slowing metabolism, which means that calories are simply burned more slowly and are also more likely to be stored. If this is compounded by a lack of exercise, this also has an effect on body weight. It is not for nothing that many women who are actually slim suddenly become a little heavier during the menopause. But this does not necessarily have to be the case!

A diet as a solution to menopausal symptoms? Avoid foods containing wheat!

A diet alone will certainly not permanently change the metabolic problems during the menopause. What can be helpful, however, is a general change in lifestyle and diet. Eating a balanced, seasonal and fresh diet is always a good idea to reduce weight in the long term and stay healthy. Several smaller meals are recommended, which should consist mainly of fruit and vegetables. As the need for protein is also increased during the menopause, you should ensure that your protein intake is moderately increased. This can be achieved by eating organic meat or legumes such as lentils or peas.

Did you know? In general, vegetarians have fewer menopausal symptoms. From this, it can be concluded that a plant-based diet is particularly recommended. In addition to a lot of protein, soy-based tofu also contains so-called “phytohormones”, which are also said to help alleviate menopausal symptoms. But the rule is: less is more! So too much should also be avoided here.

Sugar, sweeteners and all other industrially processed or wholly manufactured foods should also be avoided at all costs. The latter contain a lot of hidden sugar. Wheat-containing foods should also be reduced or avoided altogether in order to reduce chronic inflammation in the body and prevent flatulence and constipation.

Exercise for your own well-being

In addition to a balanced and healthy diet, moderate exercise is also very helpful in keeping the symptoms of the menopause in check and fighting the kilos. How about 30 minutes of sport once a day? It doesn’t necessarily have to be a sweat-inducing slog. Integrating exercise into your everyday life also counts! Next time, take the elevator instead of the stairs or leave the car at home and take the bike instead! After all, every little helps! What’s more, with a certain amount of sport in your life, you simply feel better.

AKG – the miracle cure for menopausal symptoms

AKG (alpha-ketoglutarate) is an important molecule from the human metabolism that has been shown in numerous studies to have a positive effect on chronic inflammatory “age-related diseases”. Its metabolism-activating effect is particularly important when considering the benefits in the context of the menopause. Anyone who supplements AKG with a high-quality product after the onset of their own menopause can actively intervene in their metabolism and thus prevent it from slowing down. As mentioned above, the consequence of a slowed metabolism is inevitable weight gain.
