Around two weeks after your stool sample has arrived with us, you will receive your results in the form of a protected Gut Microbiome Report. Before that, quite a lot happens behind the scenes.
Week 1: Sample preparation and DNA extraction
During the first week, your stool sample is prepared accordingly in order to extract the DNA of the microorganisms. DNA extraction is an important step in analysing the genetic information of the bacteria present in the gut.
Weeks 1–2: Sequencing and DNA-based microbiome analysis
After extraction, the DNA is sequenced in order to determine the composition of the different bacterial strains in your gut microbiome. This process requires a highly specialised technology that is normally used only for research purposes.
Week 2: Data interpretation and report generation
Based on the sequencing data, your individual results are interpreted using our knowledge database and a deep-learning algorithm, and a comprehensive report is created. This report contains information about the bacterial species present, their diversity and possible imbalances in your gut microbiome.
Week 2+: Communication of results and recommendations
After a careful analysis period of approximately two weeks, your individual Gut Microbiome Report will be provided to you. Use these insights to take targeted measures to promote a healthy gut microbiome and support your health.
